Liberalism or Greedism

This diatribe is one I have been hesitant to write. The thoughts from this one came about because of a personal conversation. With that said, I hope I can write this without revealing anything that was said to me in confidence.

The gentleman I was speaking with was an admitted liberal. It’s rare that a liberal admits to being one, so that is something at least. Throughout our conversation he often mentioned social conscience. That is, when he wasn’t complaining about President Bush and all conservatives.

Of course, when talking to a liberal, Iraq is going to come up. He said that all the money that was being spent on the war could be used to take care of the poor around the world. I’m not sure about the rest of the world, but I can’t argue the poor in the USA could use some help.

Presidential Personalities

Presidential Personalities

I received this in my email. I'm not sure who wrote it originally so cannot give credit. I cannot attest to it factually, but it seems to support things I have heard from other sources. This is the letter just as I received it.

YOU WILL FIND THE SECRET SERVICE VIEWS ON THE PERSONALITIES OF PAST PRESIDENTS TO BE QUITE INTERESTING.

For those who don't know... Capt. Denny Keast flies for UAL and flew many SAMs (Special Air Missions) for the White House.

********************************************************

I flew 4 Presidential support missions in the C-141 out of Dover AFB, DE.. Two for President Johnson and two for President Nixon.

The Race

The Race

Today Congress voted to give 25 millions dollars to a group that calls itself “The Race”. I'm not sure why the federal government is giving such large sums of money to private organizations. But, why give it to some organization that calls itself “The Race”?

Should we be funding any private organizations, much less a racist one? In defense of this organization they are asking for the funding to build houses and for literary programs. You can be sure much of that money is going for other things, such as campaign donations.Would you want to give 25 million dollars to the “Klu klux Klan”? I don't think so. Lets just fund the “Aryan Nation” while we are at it. I am sure we can find a few Islamic Terrorist groups that could use funding as well.

We just had a bridge to fall from neglect, at least that's where the evidence is pointing at this time. The democrat controlled congress is screaming to raise taxes. Why, so they can give more to racist groups? In a time when the government is looking for ways to cut spending, we get this give away. I am sure there were more than democrats that voted for this funding bill. I am sure there are lots of Americans that support this spending. No doubt there are many more that will never know about it except for those that might visit this blog and those like it that seek to reveal what's happening in our government.

Live Earth

What can I say? I have been watching the Live Earth concert. There is some top-notch entertainment there, but it brings rise to something I have always said. Entertainers should stick to what they do best and keep their mouth shut. Many just prove that they are morons when they open their mouth. Of course, some say the same about me:)

There was one thing said that I thought worth writing about. K. T. Tunstall performed well and then stopped for a short interview afterward. It was there I just shook my head in dismay. She seems to have gone “green”. She said that she had made her tour “green”. The star goes on to say she has purchased 6000 acres of forestland in northern Scotland to offset the production of her CDs. She runs her buses on bio diesel, which I find about the only thing she is doing “green”. She then says that she is tacking one dollar onto the sales of concert tickets so that the fans can have their carbon emissions offset for traveling to the show.

Power to the People

Today was a landmark day in the USA. This day, June 28th, 2007 should go down in history. Not because this is the day that the horrible immigration bill failed, but the day that congress was forced to bend to the will of the people. This was only a small victory, but a victory nonetheless. We the people should celebrate any victory over the government. In the past, congress has bent to the will of the people, but always some minority.

Where do we go from here? “We stay the course,” as President Bush is so fond of saying. Let's continue to use this new-found power and force the government to do the things the majority of the people want. We must make the government understand that the status-quo is not going to work. It's time the government enforce the laws it was sworn to keep.

Seals Dying

This was an article published in the Washington Post in 1922. The headline was "Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt."

I guess that speaks for itself, no need to say more.

Paris Law

We now know something we have all known for years, society is separated by class. The left seeks to separate us even more. Many times class-ism is looked at as racism. No doubt some of it is, but today something happened that defined class-ism.

Today, after three days, Paris Hilton was released from jail. The police department states the reasons are “medical”. News is slowly trickling out that she would not eat, and cried constantly. Now we know what it takes to get tossed out of jail and get house arrest in a cushy mansion. Of course, I doubt Charles Manson will ever get that sentence, and nor should he.

Federal Failure

Today was a good day in America. Congress worked together to come up with a new immigration law. Today that law failed to come to vote and was sent back to committee, where most go to die. This bill will reemerge, but at least this version is effectively dead. Those for the bill claimed that it had to pass this one or to continue the status quo of doing nothing.

Those of us that have opposed this bill do so for one reason, why pass more laws when no one wants to enforce the current ones. Once the current laws are enforced, there is true effort to build the 720 miles fence that congress has already approved, and then only can we look at changing the current laws.

No doubt we need to expand the quota of immigrant workers. I doubt anyone will argue that point. The Kennedy-McCain bill did provide for that. That bill had a lot of good points. There were also many bad points. There is no need for me to go over that bill verbatim.

Rosie Gets Hers

I am sure I am only going to say the same thing that millions of Americans are saying. It’s about time someone let Rosie O’Donnell have it. That woman has used a platform that most will never have to spout lies and misinformation. Why ABC let her continue as long as she did I will never know. There will be no surprise when the leftist media in this country gives her another platform to spout hate.

A lot of people are asking, why is this so important. There are more important things in the world than Rosie O’Donnell. I am sure there are, but this is more important than most realize. Rosie is stating things that millions of others believe. Those lies and mis-truths are rampant on the Internet. It’s hard to determine the root of these lies. I do know that it seems most Canadians and Europeans believe them. Maybe they are getting it from the BBC. We do know the BBC is a far left socialist news organization.

ANOTHER SOLDIER'S VIEWPOINT

think this is as close to exactly how it is in Iraq.

Here's his letter :

Following the article I sent about Bush's national address and troop increase, I thought it was a good idea to let you all know what the perspective is over here. I'm tired of hearing the media's skewed version, the politicians squabbling over what they read in a report, and the average ill-informed American ranting about things he knows NOTHING about.

I've been over here a couple of months now, and I've learned more about this country than a year's worth of watching CNN. I've sat in mission briefs with Colonels, talked with village elders, had tea with Shieks, played with the kids. And I agree with the President. We need more troops and we need to take greater action.

Free Speech On Immigration

Who knows if this is true or not, I guess it doesn’t matter. It states accurately, a well known fact.

Subject: New Immigrants
Newspapers simply won't publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which don't agree with the philosophy they're "pushing" on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published - but with your help it will get "published" via cyberspace!     From: "David LaBonte"     My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined.  Dave LaBonte (signed)     Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

Beauty and the Beast

Once again I find myself responding to something I read. A lot lately has been made about Rosie O’Donnell taking over the television show “The View”. As for myself, I doubt I will be watching it again. The show did not only lean left, it was always teetering on the leftist cliff. Then in 2003 Elizabeth Hasselbeck came on the show. I had been a fan of hers from the reality show ‘Survivor”. To my delight, she wasn’t just nice to look at, but she was politically right. The article below states that she caused tension. Don’t you think a right-winger in lala land might do just that? Maybe there was tension because suddenly they had to hear an opinion that didn’t fall in line with their own.

Now let's look at the article below. Not one nice word about Hasselbeck. By reading that article you would think her to be an inarticulate teenager, when in fact, she is anything but that. Intelligently and articulately she  gives counterpoints to their leftist views. Now the truth is out, they only want one view, the leftist view. Often she is the lone voice of conservatism in a sea of liberals. If the writer of the article below thinks that when Elizabeth is outnumbered 4-1 it is she that needs quelling, then that writer just wants to hear no counterpoint to the liberal foolishness.

Not Yours To Give

"Not Yours To Give"

"Not Yours To Give"------------------------------------------------------------------------Originally published in "The Life of Colonel David Crockett," by Edward Sylvester Ellis.

Give"Col. David CrockettUS Representative from TennesseeOne day in the House of Representatives a bill was taken up appropriating money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. Several beautiful speeches had been made in its support. The speaker was just about to put the question when Crockett arose:"Mr. Speaker--I have as much respect for the memory of the deceased, and as much sympathy for the suffering of the living, if there be, as any man in this House, but we must not permit our respect for the dead or our sympathy for part of the living to lead us into an act of injustice to the balance of the living. I will not go into an argument to prove that Congress has not the power to appropriate this money as an act of charity. Every member on this floor knows it.We have the right as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right to

What a Joke

I have seen some stupid things said by the terrorist and their allies, but this tops it all. Maybe it just tell us exactly what they think. They think our liberals and Israel are weak and will not fight them. I think the last few weeks have proved them wrong, at least about Israel. When it comes to the left in the USA, or anywhere else in the world, they are right.

AP News

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said in a TV interview aired Sunday that he would not have ordered the capture of two Israeli soldiers if he had known it would lead to such a war.
Hezbollah guerrillas killed three Israeli soldiers and seized two more in a cross-border raid July 12, which sparked 34 days of fighting that ended Aug. 14. Five other Israeli soldiers were killed as they pursued the militants back into Lebanon.
“We did not think, even 1 percent, that the capture would lead to a war at this time and of this magnitude. You ask me, if I had known on July 11 ... that the operation would lead to such a war, would I do it? I say no, absolutely not,” he said in an interview with Lebanon’s New TV station.

I just wanted to pass this along to you.

Leftywood

Last week I sat down to watch two of the latest releases on DVD. The first of the two was Final Destination 3. In my opinion, it might have been the better of the last two in the series. I know no one comes here to read movie revues and neither movie is worth taking the space here, at last not today. The second, V for Vendetta might at some point in the future. “Vendetta” was political in nature so I have no problem with it having a political viewpoint as long as its part of the plot.

I guess by now you have an idea where I am going with this. Let's start with Final Destination 3. One point in the movie nearly ruined it for me. During the funeral scene some guy begins to shout about how only the good die while people like Dick Cheney who is guilty of war atrocities still walks. Nowhere in the movie did the plot lead to this point. This was just an outright anti GOP statement. The statement was typical fact-less rhetoric.

Terrorist Who?

Today is a good day in the world. We avoided a tragedy on the scale of 9/11. The UK unraveled a plot to down 6 or so airliners. From there the news gets depressing. We learn there might be thirty more terrorist still free. Let's have hope that they find all these potential perpetrators.

This is where the real problems comes in, they won’t be able to search for the people properly. You see, it’s not politically correct to search for Middle Eastern Islamic fundamentalist. I don’t dare to speak for the United Kingdom who has done a wonderful job so far, but will they actually search for men, maybe woman, with brown skin? I think they will, but you won’t hear theirs, or our, medias report on this. Publicly you have to pretend the perpetrators have no skin color.

Today in airports across the USA and UK, teenage girls and 80-year-old women will be searched and forced to depart with their hygiene products. These people will not be searched because they might be dangerous, but because of the color of their skin. You see, they happened to have been born white. Once again you will see agents in airports search the above profiles, while passing by men of Arabic descent. We all know why, because if you search only the people that fit the profile of those that continuously try to kill us, you will be called a racist.

MILK

Today I learned a new acronym. I think I will dedicate this blog to all MILKs. A few conversations led me to the discovery of this new acronym. That is the topic of this post. Until now I was not aware just how this world was divided so radically left and right. The ongoing battle between Hezbollah and Israel is shedding new light on the ideological battle between the left and right.

Until now I thought I had this figured out. I knew in the USA how the left seemed to support terrorist, but I thought they just hated George W. Bush that much. I was completely wrong on that. They hate anyone that doesn’t have the same ideology as them. For most of my life I thought of myself as a liberal, so what happened? Did I change, or did the term itself change? Until now I just thought I had changed, but as of today, I think the term changed. I’m not so sure my beliefs are that much different now than they were when I was sixteen years old. I do feel I understand capitalism better, economics better, but this posting is not on those two things.

Misplaced Aid

There are a lot of misplaced good intentions around the world. We have Bono and his African aid. The man uses that to feel less guilty about being wealthy. If he wants to rid himself of that guilt, he should give away that wealth. There is no amount of charity which will solve many of the problem in Africa.

Then you have guilty nations. The United States is in the same category as Bono. The leaders and the left feel guilty because this is a prosperous nation. We are supposed to feel guilty for nations like Mexico, and continents like Africa.

I ask, how long have we been pouring money into these problems? The answer is decades. You might ask, what else is there to do? We could invade them, but that wouldn’t work either. People need the desire to improve themselves.

Flashlight Scam

You have seen them advertised on television for only $19.95. You can, of course, find them in flea markets for much less. I am not sure what brand I have. I’ll look up the information later. The point is, they are a scam. After getting poor results, no apparent charging, I disassembled two of them.

First, let me point out I have over 30 years in the electronic industry. I was dubious of the type of energy storage the light used. My mind told me this couldn’t work as advertised. I was right. Their claims are not just outrageous, but they are down right lies.

After having problems with the flashlight not charging, I finally took time to disassemble one. To my surprise, I found two button type batteries. Maybe I wasn’t that surprised. I had expected wafer capacitors or something similar.

Child Abuse or Religious Rights?

We sometimes forget that the world is made up of customs and religions different from our own region. Every once in a while someone comes along and reminds you there are differences, sometimes, huge differences.

The other night I met some people that reminded me of one of those differences. At first it was mild amusement, and then shock. I happened across two girls that were raised in Catholic schools. The scandals of the church has reached every one of us. We know of the wide spread abuse of boys in the church, but what of the girls?

The church, it seems, has a different idea for the punishment of girls and boys. Boys are often whipped or expelled, while girls seem to have only one punishment, kneeling. You might think kneeling is a light punishment. One example of which I know, a girl was forced to kneel for three days in front of the Virgin Mary statue. A day in this instance was from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with only the usual school breaks, dinner etc…
