When George Bush sat in the oval office gas prices climbed to $3.00 a
gallon and the media was ready to bring criminal charges. The media
made false claims that Bush and Cheney were colluding with the oil
companies to raise prices. I will admit that they didn’t let the
speculators go unchallenged. What we did learn from the facts is that
when Bush lifted the drilling ban on our coasts, the price per barrel of
oil dropped $20 within three months.
Since the election of Barack Obama gas prices have doubled. The media
has yet to blame the president for any increase. The blame has been put
squarely on the shoulders of speculators and the turmoil in the Middle
East. No doubt the Middle Eastern turmoil is one of the factors for
higher oil and gas prices, but there is a greater cause, and that is the
drilling moratorium.
