Federal Failure

Today was a good day in America. Congress worked together to come up with a new immigration law. Today that law failed to come to vote and was sent back to committee, where most go to die. This bill will reemerge, but at least this version is effectively dead. Those for the bill claimed that it had to pass this one or to continue the status quo of doing nothing.

Those of us that have opposed this bill do so for one reason, why pass more laws when no one wants to enforce the current ones. Once the current laws are enforced, there is true effort to build the 720 miles fence that congress has already approved, and then only can we look at changing the current laws.

No doubt we need to expand the quota of immigrant workers. I doubt anyone will argue that point. The Kennedy-McCain bill did provide for that. That bill had a lot of good points. There were also many bad points. There is no need for me to go over that bill verbatim.

Let’s talk about what needs to be done. The Federal government’s foremost responsibility is to protect the sovereignty of the United States of America. By allowing people, menacing and non-menacing, to enter the country unchecked, the US government is failing to do its job. Our government, when they do find someone in the country illegally, they just shrug and say that the job is too big for them.

This sounds so much like the American left talking. The war in Iraq its too big a job and can’t be won. There are too many illegal immigrants… the job can’t be done. There are too many terrorists… the job can’t be done. If it's something they don’t want to do, the answer by the left is to say it can’t be done. Let me tell you why the USA is the most prosperous nation in the world, because we have always said, “We can do it.”

Americans, I beg you, let's restore our sovereignty and then we can work on our internal differences. We don’t need to know what Europe is doing. We don’t need to know what Mexico is doing. We need only  to know that we are all working for the best of the United States. Strip away sovereignty, then the USA no longer exist. It then just becomes a open territory once more.

If you do want to be rid of the Federal government called the United States, then restore states rights and privileges. Let each state at least defend its own sovereignty. Let's get back to putting America first. If this can’t happen, then it might be time for the southern states to rethink secession.
